Adam Rosenberg and Center for Hope: Leading the Fight Against Child Abuse and Advocating for Prevention

With the recent release of the Maryland Attorney General’s report on child abuse in the Catholic Church over decades in Baltimore, the issue of child abuse has once again come to the forefront of public consciousness. Many people are asking what can be done to support victims and what can be done to prevent abuse in the first place.

Adam Rosenberg, the executive director for LifeBridge Health’s Center for Hope, has been a strong advocate for social justice and a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves—especially abused children. Rosenberg has been on the front lines for decades responding to all forms of child maltreatment – crisis response for sexual child abuse, regional navigation to stop human trafficking, and bringing awareness and healing to children impacted by gun violence.

Through the Center for Hope, Rosenberg and his team provide intervention and prevention services for child abuse, domestic violence, street violence, and elder justice for survivors, caregivers, and communities. They work with children, their families and caregivers, and community partners to build healthy and strong families, all to prevent, identify, respond and treat child abuse.

Rosenberg and his team also help to create policy for youth serving organizations and educate the greater community on strategies to prevent future harm as well. For example, Maryland’s CHAMP (Child Abuse Medical Providers) Network, housed at LifeBridge health, provides the best resources for doctors and nurses as they investigate and diagnose child maltreatment thanks to a deep bench of experts.

In addition to the work done by the Center for Hope, April is designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is an opportunity for communities to come together to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and to take action to prevent it. There are many ways to get involved, such as sharing information about child abuse prevention on social media, volunteering at a local child advocacy center or family resource center, or donating to organizations that provide support for victims of child abuse.

In conclusion, preventing child abuse requires a collective effort from individuals, communities, and organizations. The work done by Adam Rosenberg and the Center for Hope is just one example of the many ways in which people can come together to support victims and prevent abuse. By raising awareness, advocating for policies that protect children, and supporting organizations that provide services to survivors and families, we can work towards a future where every child is safe and protected.
