The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) is the public transportation agency for the city of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. Established in 1993, LA Metro provides over 1.5 million passenger trips each day, making it the largest public transportation system in the United States. The agency operates a wide range of services, including buses, light rail, and subway lines, as well as a growing network of express buses, paratransit vans, and shuttles.

LA Metro’s bus system consists of over 200 bus lines, which serve over 1,500 bus stops throughout the region. The bus lines cover a wide range of travel needs, including local trips within neighborhoods, connecting trips between neighborhoods and downtown, and trips to and from the region’s airports. The light rail system consists of four lines, which connect downtown Los Angeles to its surrounding communities. The subway system consists of two lines, which connect downtown Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley and the San Gabriel Valley.

In addition to providing public transportation, LA Metro also works to promote a more sustainable future for the city of Los Angeles. The agency offers various programs to encourage the use of public transportation, such as discounted fares for students and seniors, special events, and bike share programs. LA Metro also works with local governments and businesses to improve public transportation infrastructure and services in the region.

LA Metro is constantly striving to improve public transportation in the city of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. By providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation, LA Metro is helping to make Los Angeles a more livable, sustainable, and vibrant city.
