MGM Resorts’ $500K Contribution Brings Fresh Produce and Jobs to Las Vegas’ Historic Westside
MGM Resorts International has contributed $500,000 to Las Vegas’ first community-based farming facility, which opened in the Historic Westside, as part of the HUNDRED Plan, a community-led strategy for revitalizing the area.
The two growing containers purchased with the donation will provide approximately 320 square feet of growing space and produce output equivalent to nearly 3.5 acres of farmland or eight tons of produce, with the first harvest expected in late April.
The farm is expected to provide fresh food and jobs for neighborhood residents, as well as educate them about the value of good nutrition.
The initiative is part of MGM Resorts’ commitment to its platform: Focused on What Matters, Embracing Humanity and Protecting the Planet, which aims to contribute to the social and economic progress of the communities in which it operates.
