National Governing Bodies for Pickleball Launch First Continental Federation in the Americas to Promote Sport’s Growth and Development

The National Governing Bodies for pickleball in the United States, Canada, and Mexico have announced the formation and launch of the Pickleball Federation of the Americas (PFA). The PFA will serve as the first continental pickleball federation in the Americas, promoting the development and growth of pickleball throughout North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. The PFA is a non-profit corporation that aims to encourage the development of the sport of pickleball, coordinate efforts to position pickleball as a welcoming and accessible sport that fosters social connections and a sense of community, organize championships and major events, support equity, diversity, and inclusion within pickleball, help ensure that the culture of pickleball evolves as a safe sport, and serve as the official continental federation for pickleball in the Americas.

The initial leadership group includes representatives from USA Pickleball, Pickleball Canada, and La Liga Profesional de Pickleball Mexico. Javier Regalado, the President of La Liga Profesional de Pickleball Mexico, will serve as the first Chair of the Board of Directors for PFA. The PFA will form a nine-member Board of Directors this summer, with leaders from other member countries.

Member countries of the Pickleball Federation of the Americas will have access to official playing rules, coaching and officiating materials, and guidelines for federation websites, bylaws, articles of incorporation, and tournament operations. Other recognized National Federations for pickleball in the Americas are encouraged to join the PFA as members of an organization and network that focuses on assistance and support for the international development of pickleball.

The Pickleball Federation of the Americas represents a significant development for the sport of pickleball, which has experienced explosive growth in recent years. The PFA’s commitment to supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion within pickleball is particularly notable, as it demonstrates a commitment to fostering a welcoming and respectful environment for all players, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
