Splash Mountain at Disneyland is Closing… What’s next?

Published

As Splash Mountain closes, it will undergo a transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a whimsical attraction inspired by The Princess and the Frog.

Splash Mountain is a log ride at Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. It was formerly located in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom before closing in January 2023. The ride is based on the animated sequences of the 1946 Disney film Song of the South. Although there are variations in the story and features between the two locations, each installation begins with a peaceful outdoor float-through that leads to indoor dark ride segments, with a climactic steep drop into a “briar patch” followed by an indoor finale. The drop is 52.5 feet.

In June 2020, it was announced that the U.S. versions of the ride would be receiving a new theme based on Disney‘s 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. The new ride, which will be titled Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, is scheduled to open at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom in late 2024. The Magic Kingdom version of Splash Mountain closed on January 23, 2023. The closing date for the Disneyland version has yet to be announced. (wikipedia)

Magical News: Disneyland Expansion Plan Approved by California Officials!

Exciting news: California officials approve $1.9 billion, 10-year plan to expand Disneyland! More magic awaits! ✨🎢🏰 #DisneylandExpansion

Published

In a delightful turn of events, California officials have given their much-anticipated approval for a $1.9 billion, 10-year plan to expand Disneyland, making it the park’s first major expansion since the ’90s. The City of Anaheim’s planning commission meticulously evaluated the proposed upgrades during a recent meeting, paving the way for an exciting transformation. However, before we can grab our Mickey ears and start celebrating, the project still awaits final approval from the city council, which is expected to take place next month.

"Image of Disneyland park with fireworks in the background, symbolizing the excitement of the approved expansion plan."

This ambitious expansion endeavor will require Disney to invest over $1.9 billion into various aspects of the theme park, including lodging, entertainment, and related facilities over the course of the next decade. Additionally, in any agreement reached between the city and Disney, the company will have to invest millions into essential infrastructure, such as street improvements and affordable housing, to support the expansion. It’s heartening to see Disney’s commitment not only to creating magical experiences but also to supporting the local community.

Disney’s ultimate goal with this expansion is to deliver even more immersive experiences for tourists, akin to the exceptional Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction that took visitors by storm when it opened in California back in 2019. During the meeting, Rachel Alde, Disney’s senior vice president of global development and finance, excitedly spoke about the untold stories they hope to bring to life within the park. She mentioned beloved films like “Wakanda,” “Coco,” “Frozen,” and “Zootopia” as potential inspirations, expressing the need for guidance to understand how to create these captivating experiences.

It’s worth noting that while the proposed expansion won’t increase Disneyland’s current 490-acre footprint in Southern California, it presents an incredible opportunity for Disney to develop new features on a 50-acre parking lot. Imagine the possibilities! With the additional space, visitors can soon expect new rides and entertainment options, granting them the chance to dive deeper into the enchanting worlds crafted by Disney.

During the meeting, Ken Potrock, the president of Disneyland Resort, passionately highlighted the importance of continuing Walt Disney’s extraordinary legacy and bringing more Disney stories to life right here in Anaheim. His powerful statement echoed the sentiments of Disney fans around the world who are eagerly anticipating a future filled with remarkable adventures and cherished memories.

Now, let’s all keep our fingers crossed and twirl our magic wands for a favorable decision from the city council next month! If all goes well, Disneyland will embark on an incredible journey of expanding its horizons and captivating guests with even more enchantment than ever before.

MIAMI /PRNewswire/ — More than 10,000 rooms will surround the lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons® technologyrecently inaugurated in the United States. It is located just steps from Disney World and Universal Studios in the heart of Orlando, the most visited destination in the US, with 75 million tourists annually.  This city offers a wide range of entertainment options but lacks a beach, an issue remedied in this great development with a crystalline lagoon of the multinational innovation company founded by the scientist Fernando Fischmann.

Crystal Lagoons brings beach life to Orlando with an 8-acre crystalline lagoon at the Evermore Orlando Resort

The lagoon forms part of the Evermore Orlando Resortone of the largest tourism projects in Florida. The large 8-acre body of water with extensive beaches breaks the hotel paradigm by providing truly superior standards and consolidates the presence of Crystal Lagoons in the hospitality and entertainment industry.

Surrounding the lagoon is Orlando’s first Conrad hotel, a luxury brand of the Hilton chain, as well as a variety of homes, villas and apartments. In addition, there is an 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, one of the greatest golfers in history.

“Every hotel project incorporating a Crystal Lagoons® amenity becomes the most attractive destination in the area. Conrad, one of the world’s leading hotel chains, understood this and decided to make a qualitative leap with respect to the existing offer in the most touristic area of the U.S.,” said Iván Manzur, Senior Vice President of Sales of Crystal Lagoons US Corp.

The United States is the main operation of Crystal Lagoons worldwide, with more than 275 projects at different stages of development and negotiation. Among the most important are Aqua, Mirada, Sole Mia, Balmoral, Windsong Ranch, Beachwalk, and Southshore Bay. The recent joint venture to develop four Public Access Lagoons™ complexes, also known as PAL™, in Texas, stands out and will add to the successful public access developments Epperson (Florida) and Lago Mar (Texas).

About Crystal Lagoons

Crystal Lagoons is a U.S.-based multinational that developed a technology allowing crystalline lagoons of unlimited sizes to be built and maintained at low cost anywhere. It has more than 1,000 projects at various stages of development and negotiation worldwide.

With over 3,000 patents in 160 countries, its sustainable amenities use up to 100 times fewer chemicals and only 2% of the energy required by conventional swimming pools. Bureau Veritas verified the technology’s efficient water use, concluding that a 1-Ha/2.5-ac. lagoon utilizes 33 times less water than a golf course and 40% less water than a park of the same size. Crystal Lagoons® amenities can use sea, fresh, and brackish water, which is abundant and has no other use.
