The proposed UAP Disclosure Act, spearheaded by House Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Mike Rounds, has sparked speculation about the potential revelation of UFO secrets. The amendment, which will be included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2024, seeks to declassify government records pertaining to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs.

Inspired by the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, this amendment aims to shed light on the U.S. government’s knowledge and involvement regarding UAP. In addition to the declassification of records, the proposed amendment also includes provisions for the creation of a new UAP Records Collection.

The announcement of the amendment in mid-July 2023 revealed bipartisan support, with no objections from either Democrats or Republicans. Notable senators, such as Marco Rubio, Kristen Gillibrand, Todd Young, and Martin Heinrich, have expressed their endorsement of the legislation.

This new development builds upon previous UAP amendments to the NDAA over the past three years. Senator Gillibrand and Representative Tim Burchett have also introduced additional amendments for 2024. The level of detail and scope of the Schumer amendment is particularly noteworthy, as it establishes a 25-year deadline for the release of records. However, it should be noted that the press release incorrectly stated that the 25-year timeframe would commence upon the amendment’s enactment, whereas the actual amendment specifies it as 25 years after the original creation of a document.

While the proposed UAP Disclosure Act has generated intrigue, it remains to be seen whether it will truly unveil long-held UFO secrets. The forthcoming declassification of government records will undoubtedly provide valuable information and insights into UAP encounters, potentially fueling further public interest and scientific research.
