Whimsical Comedy “80 FOR BRADY” due in Theaters Soon!

80 For Brady
Rita Moreno plays Maura, Jane Fonda plays Trish, Lily Tomlin plays Lou and Sally Field plays Betty in 80 For Brady from Paramount Pictures.

Four legends of the screen star together, quadrupling the comedy, in 80 For Brady, a winter release from Paramount Pictures. The film stars Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sally Field, and Rita Moreno.

80 For Brady is inspired by a true story of friendship, presenting a whimsically comical, yet genuinely emotional, tale of four women who plan a trip top 2017 Super Bowl LI to watch their beloved quarterback quarterback Tom Brady. The lady are inspired by Brady’s never give up attitude, tapping into that same spirit on the craziest trip of their long and amazing journey together.  80 For Brady presents the whimsically comical, yet genuinely emotional, tale of four women who set out to pay homage to their hero.

80 For Brady is a perspective-shifting twist on the “girls just want to have fun” comedy, also bringing in elements of the epic party movie and rollicking buddy movie.  But it’s all filtered through something distinctive: the insistently upbeat mood that Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno, and Field set, a mood of living it up no matter what tries to bring you down, a tonic of fun-loving humanity for our times.

“Age really doesn’t matter when it comes to these four friends,” says producer Donna Gigliotti. “They believe if you have the will, you can do anything.  If you want to go the Super Bowl for the first time in your life at 80, do all kinds of crazy stuff you’ve never done, even inspire Tom Brady, you can do it.  It’s a wild ride that brings them closer together and more excited than ever about what’s ahead.”

This winter, a brash, big-hearted comedy touches down that proves it’s never too late to have the wildest time of your life.  80 For Brady is set against an American rite of passage—the time-honored tradition of friends and family heading to the Super Bowl city aiming to make lasting memories. But you’re about to meet perhaps the least likely, most hilariously fun, quartet to fulfill this iconic football fantasy.  Inspired by a true friendship, this is the whimsically comical, yet genuinely emotional, tale of four women who set out to pay homage to quarterback Tom Brady’s refusal to ever give up—only to have to tap into that same spirit on the craziest trip of their long and amazing journey together.

“80 For Brady is a perspective-shifting twist on the “girls just want to have fun” comedy, also bringing in elements of the epic party movie and rollicking buddy movie.  But it’s all filtered through something distinctive: the insistently upbeat mood that Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno, and Field set, a mood of living it up no matter what tries to bring you down, a tonic of fun-loving humanity for our times.

“This is a story of four women out to prove to themselves and everyone around them, including Tom Brady, that it ain’t over till it’s over,” describes director Kyle Marvin.  “It was really important to me to make a very joyful, positive movie at this moment in the world. We also set out to tell an authentic story about the fun, support, and inspiration of long-term friendships, and how they sometimes push you to do the unexpected.”

Says Tomlin, “The concept of four female friends trying to wheedle their way into the greatest ever Super Bowl is incredibly fun.  But even more fun was working with Jane, Rita, and Sally.  They’re all equally sweet, talented, irreverent, and in love with life.”

Adds Fonda, “I wanted to be part of 80 For Brady because I think we all need to have a good time right now.  People need to laugh and feel optimistic, and this is definitely a feel-good comedy.  Lots of outrageous things happen along the journey but it ends up being deeply poignant, in an uplifting way.”

Moreno describes the film as “a delicious romp full of hijinks.  It could be about any group of people but what makes it unique is that when you are our age you are truly ready to do whatever you please, to say exactly what you want, and be who you are, because what do you have to lose?  These ladies use all their experience and attitude to tackle anything that happens.”

Field, notes that while 80 For Brady is very much not just for sports fans, it celebrates the fact that women of all ages are some of the most overlooked uberfans of all.  “I’m a huge sports fan myself and I think the world underestimates how many older women are,” she says.  “Sports are one of the best ways to build camaraderie. And it’s that camaraderie that propels these women into a weekend more exciting than anything they had ever conceived of.  You have the flat-out fun of four older women friends getting into shenanigans while always having each other’s backs.”

Joining in on the antics is an ensemble cast running over with comedy stars and cultural icons, including members of the 2017 New England Patriots – Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola – Guy Fieri, Billy Porter, Glynn Turman, Harry Hamlin, Sara Gilbert, Jimmy O. Yang, Bob Balaban, Rob Corddry, Alex Moffat and more.

Naturally, there could be no 80 For Brady without Brady himself.  The global superstar and anointed G.O.A.T.—still playing at an unheard-of 45 years-old—not only stars in the film, he was so stirred by the story he came aboard as a producer.

“This story centers around things I really care about,” says Brady.  “Football aside, it’s about relationships, overcoming adversity, and having the resiliency and imagination to make things happen in your life.  These ladies embody that as much as any athlete.  And to be able to tell this story with these screen icons has been an amazing experience.  They are the G.O.A.T.S at what they do, and it’s been a treat for me to see them in action bringing this story to life with all their charisma and humor.”

Reflecting on the 2024 Oscars: A Night of Wins, Laughter, and Fashion Statements

The 2024 Oscars: A night of wins, laughter, and elegant fashion. No mentions of past controversies, just a focus on cinematic excellence.

Published

on

The 2024 Oscars night was a whirlwind of excitement, surprises, and elegance as the film industry’s finest gathered to celebrate cinematic achievements. Among the standout moments was the triumph of “Oppenheimer,” a biopic that not only captivated audiences but also dominated the awards, clinching seven accolades, including Best Picture. Christopher Nolan’s directorial prowess shone through as he claimed the Best Director title, while Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. were honored for their outstanding performances as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.

While “Oppenheimer” led the pack, “Poor Things” also made a mark with four wins, with Emma Stone’s portrayal earning her the coveted Best Actress award. The night was further enriched by captivating performances, including Ryan Gosling’s comedic surprises during his rendition of “I’m Just Ken” and the mesmerizing display of a dozen drummers in the performance of “Wahzhazhe.” The ceremony also featured memorable presenter antics, such as John Cena’s daring walk across the stage clad in nothing but an envelope.

The red carpet was ablaze with a stunning array of black, red, and metallic ensembles, showcasing the stars’ fashion prowess as they graced Hollywood’s grand event. Despite a few mishaps, like Emma Stone’s dress incident and Al Pacino’s potential oversight, the glamour and allure of the evening remained undiminished.

What truly stood out about this year’s Oscars was the absence of any reference to past controversies, notably the infamous Will Smith and Chris Rock incident from two years prior. Unlike previous telecasts, where the incident was repeatedly revisited, this year’s ceremony seemed to signal a collective move towards letting bygones be bygones. Host Jimmy Kimmel’s subtle nod to a bygone era of Oscars antics hinted at a shift in focus from past controversies to celebrating the artistry and talent that define the film industry.

As the curtain fell on the 2024 Oscars, it was evident that the night was not just about accolades and glamour but also about embracing new beginnings and a renewed focus on the magic of storytelling that unites us all. The 2024 Oscars will be remembered as a night of triumphs, laughter, and a subtle nod to moving forward—a celebration of cinema at its finest.

More than two decades after the tragic killing of hip-hop legend Jam Master Jay, justice has finally been served. On Tuesday, a jury convicted Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington of the murder of the influential DJ, putting an end to one of the hip-hop world’s most enduring mysteries.

The murder of Jam Master Jay, born Jason Mizell, shocked the music community in 2002. Alongside Run-DMC, he played a pivotal role in bringing hip-hop to the mainstream with hits like “It’s Tricky” and a reimagining of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.” Despite initial struggles in solving the case, the recent conviction has brought closure to Mizell’s family, friends, and fans.

The trial shed light on the events leading to Mizell’s untimely death, revealing a web of revenge, greed, and jealousy. Testimony indicated that Mizell, facing financial difficulties, had become involved in the drug trade to support his loved ones. However, a failed drug deal ultimately led to his tragic demise.

Witnesses, including former studio aides and business managers, provided crucial testimony linking Jordan and Washington to the murder. Their accounts, alongside incriminating statements made by the accused, played a significant role in securing the guilty verdict.

Despite the defense’s efforts to challenge witness credibility and memory, the jury found Jordan and Washington guilty of the heinous crime. The emotional response from both the convicted men and Mizell’s family members underscores the impact of this verdict on all involved.

The conviction marks a significant milestone in closing a chapter of uncertainty and pain for those affected by Jam Master Jay’s loss. As the hip-hop community reflects on this verdict, Mizell’s legacy as a pioneering DJ and advocate for anti-drug messages continues to shine through, reminding us of the enduring impact of his contributions to music and culture.
