ARLINGTON, TexasAugust 27, 2025 — Globe Life Field was more than just a ballpark on Monday night—it became a bridge between cultures. The Texas Rangers and the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) hosted their annual Japan-America Friendship Night, presented in partnership with Toyota Motor North America.

The evening highlighted the enduring friendship between North Texas and Japan, bringing together baseball, cultural exchange, and community celebration.

Students Take the Field as Cultural Ambassadors

A delegation of 16 Japanese middle school students joined Toyota Motor North America President and CEO Tetsuo (Ted) Ogawa on the field before the first pitch. Serving as cultural ambassadors, the students embodied the spirit of connection between the two nations.

The group enjoyed the ultimate American baseball experience—attending pre-game festivities, receiving official Rangers gear, and joining JASDFW Board members, local families, and fans as the Rangers took on the Los Angeles Angels.

A Pitch with Purpose

Adding to the night’s excitement, Toyota’s CEO Ted Ogawa stepped onto the mound to deliver the ceremonial first pitch. His presence symbolized Toyota’s deep ties to North Texas and its long-standing role in strengthening U.S.–Japan relations.

A Celebration of Connection

“Friendship Night is more than just a ballgame—it’s a celebration of cultural connection,” said Lawrence P. Howorth, Chair of the JASDFW Board of Directors. “Seeing the students experience one of America’s sports while sharing their culture with our community truly represents the spirit of international friendship.”

The event underscored the values that bind the communities of Japan and North Texas: teamwork, friendship, and community.

Building Bridges Beyond Baseball

Now a beloved tradition, Japan-America Friendship Night continues to highlight the importance of people-to-people exchange. Whether it’s through sports, education, or shared experiences, these connections strengthen the ties that make international friendships lasting.
