L.A. Metro’s Newest Light Rail Line Opens on October 7
The K Line Grand Opening is Friday, October 7! We are celebrating with the K Line Fest at Leimert Park Plaza, from 12 noon to 6pm Friday. It’s free and open to the public. There will be giveaways, food, performances presented by Metro Art by notable local artists — including artist Rhys Langston
Formerly known as the Crenshaw/ LAX line, the new K – Line will celebrate its opening by offering Free Rides on Entire Metro System October 7-9, which means Metro will be offering free rides on the entire Metro Bus and Rail System, including Metro Bike Share on its debut weekend.
The K Line extends from E Line (Expo) at Expo/Crenshaw Station and eventually merges with C Line (Green) at Aviation/LAX Station, connecting the Crenshaw Corridor, Inglewood and El Segundo. It brings a new era of equitable transportation investment that connects the Crenshaw Corridor and Inglewood residents to convenient, fast, reliable and low-cost rail transit that has not served the area since the Los Angeles Railway’s Yellow Cars shut down service in the 1950s.
The opening celebration, the K Line Fest, will be held at Leimert Park Plaza, from 12 noon to 6pm Friday. It’s free and open to the public. There will be giveaways, food, performances presented by Metro Art by notable local artists — including artist Rhys Langston, whose poem is featured in this video. https://kline.metro.net/
