LOS ANGELES – Metrolink passenger rail service will offer customers a $10 Holiday Pass for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day travel. On both Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1, riders can use the $10 Holiday Pass to take unlimited trips anywhere Metrolink travels on the day the pass is purchased. The holiday fare also applies to Metrolink’s Arrow service between San Bernardino and Redlands.

Holiday Service

On both Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, Metrolink and Arrow trains will operate a weekend schedule with Metrolink’s Ventura County, Antelope Valley, San Bernardino, Orange County, 91/Perris Valley and Inland Empire-Orange County lines in service. Metrolink trains will not operate on the Riverside Line over the holiday weekend or on the following Mondays.

To accommodate those traveling to the Rose Parade in Pasadena, on Monday, Jan. 1, Metrolink will add early morning service on the Orange County, Ventura County and 91/Perris Valley lines, and the first scheduled train on the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines will operate earlier, allowing passengers to arrive at L.A. Union Station between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Additionally, one special afternoon train will be added on the Ventura County, Orange County and 91/Perris Valley lines to help eventgoers return home earlier than Metrolink’s normally scheduled service would permit.

All Metrolink Train Service Suspended Dec. 26-29

Metrolink announced in November that service on all lines, including Arrow service, will be temporarily suspended from Dec. 26-29, 2023, to complete the final phase of a three-year modernization project. Metrolink trains will not run on any part of its six-county system during the service outage. Metrolink and Arrow service will operate on a weekend schedule on Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, and will resume normal service on Saturday, Dec. 30., except on the Riverside Line which does not operate on weekends.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service will also be affected from Dec. 26-29 and will operate on a modified schedule during this period. Pacific Surfliner trains will bypass Union Station using track not impacted by the Metrolink service suspension. The Rail 2 Rail® program, which allows Metrolink Monthly Pass holders to use their passes on Pacific Surfliner trains within Ventura County and Orange County, will be temporarily suspended from Thursday through Monday the week of Christmas (December 21-25). Additional blackout periods may apply.

More information about the maintenance and modernization work taking place across Metrolink’s system during the four-day service suspension can be found at metrolinktrains.com/no-service. Resources to help riders identify alternate transit options are also available until Friday. We can add it back in on Presspage once it’s ready.
