Your daily mail preview just got a whole lot more convenient.
The United States Postal Service rolled out its new Informed Delivery Mobile app this week, giving customers a sleek, on-the-go way to keep tabs on incoming mail and packages before they hit the mailbox.
Announced October 2, the free app builds on USPS’s existing Informed Delivery service—which has been helping people digitally preview their letter-size mail and track packages through email notifications and the web. Now, that same functionality lives right in your smartphone.
What’s Inside the App
The new mobile experience packs several features designed to make mail management easier:
Push notifications keep you updated the moment there’s movement on your incoming mail or packages—no need to refresh your email or log into a website.
Biometric login options (think Face ID or fingerprint) add a layer of security while making access quick and seamless.
Enhanced package tracking goes beyond basic status updates. You can scan tracking numbers or barcodes directly through the app and even share package status with family members, roommates, or anyone else waiting on that delivery.
Direct mail interaction lets you view and manage your incoming mail right from your phone, giving you a digital preview of what’s headed your way.
Why It Matters
For busy households juggling work, errands, and life in general, knowing what’s coming in the mail—and when—can be a game-changer. Whether you’re expecting an important document, coordinating package deliveries with neighbors, or just want to avoid unnecessary trips to the mailbox, the app puts that control in your hands.
The Informed Delivery service itself isn’t new, but bringing it to mobile with push notifications and enhanced tracking features makes it significantly more accessible. It’s the kind of everyday convenience that fits naturally into how we already manage our lives—through our phones.
Get the App
The Informed Delivery Mobile app is available now for free on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
