VP Harris and South Korea President to Visit NASA Goddard for Climate Change Work

On April 25th, 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea will be visiting NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The purpose of their visit is to witness firsthand NASA’s climate change work. NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy and Goddard Center Director Makenzie Lystrup will accompany them during their tour.
The visit will include a meeting with Korean-American scientists, who will brief them on the significance of space in addressing climate change. They will also be introduced to NASA’s Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) mission and the ROK’s Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) mission. Both missions are improving life on Earth by revolutionizing the way scientists observe air quality from space. Furthermore, they will see the integration of NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which is designed to unravel the secrets of dark energy and dark matter, search for and image exoplanets, and explore various topics in infrared astrophysics.
