The Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly called Obamacare, does not provide health coverage for undocumented immigrants. Federal law limits ACA marketplace enrollment and subsidies to U.S. citizens and certain lawfully present immigrants. Simply put, if a person is in the U.S. illegally, they cannot sign up for ACA insurance or receive federal financial assistance to help pay for coverage.
