On May 3, 2023, the Czech Republic became the 24th country to sign the Artemis Accords during a ceremony at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

The Artemis Accords provide a practical set of principles to guide space exploration cooperation among nations, including those involved in NASA’s Artemis program. The signing ceremony was attended by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Jennifer R. Littlejohn, and Czech Ambassador to the United States Miloslav Stašek.

The Artemis Accords reinforce and implement the 1967 Outer Space Treaty while promoting best practices and norms of responsible behavior in space.

NASA plans to continue working with more international partners to establish a safe, peaceful, and prosperous future in space.
