SpaceX, the private space exploration company, has made history once again. This time, it’s not for launching rockets, but for making its spacecraft available as a collectible toy. Fans of SpaceX will be thrilled to know that Matchbox has released a miniature version of the Crew Dragon spacecraft. This spacecraft has flown ten astronaut crews into Earth orbit and has now landed on toy store shelves.

The collectible toy is the first product to be released under a multi-year licensing agreement between SpaceX and Mattel, announced in July 2022. The 2.5-inch-tall (6.4 centimeters) Dragon capsule model includes both the capsule, where astronauts ride to and from space, and the “trunk,” which supports unpressurized payloads and provides power to the entire craft. Matchbox has even included the look of the solar cells that cover one side of the trunk with a metallic silver and black finish.

This collectible toy is a great way for fans to show their love for space exploration and SpaceX. It’s not just a toy for kids, but also for adults who are fascinated by the wonders of space. The Crew Dragon capsule model is perfect for collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates the beauty of space technology.

The Matchbox SpaceX Dragon Capsule is available for purchase for $16.99 each. This collectible toy is a must-have for anyone who is interested in space exploration and the history of SpaceX. It’s a great way to inspire future generations to dream big and reach for the stars.

In a recent article published by Newsweek, it was reported that Amtrak’s new Borealis route between St. Paul and Chicago achieved a remarkable feat by turning a profit in just 11 days of operation. This achievement is particularly significant as it is one of the few state-supported lines within Amtrak’s network to do so.

The Borealis route managed to generate $600,000 in operating revenue during the month of May, while keeping operating expenses at $500,000. This resulted in a notable operating profit of $100,000 within a very short timeframe. The route, which officially launched on May 21, served a total of 6,600 passengers during its initial days of operation.

This success story highlights the potential for profitability and sustainability within the realm of rail transportation, showcasing the demand for efficient and reliable intercity travel options. The rapid profitability of the Borealis route not only reflects well on Amtrak’s strategic expansion efforts but also underscores the importance of investing in and improving public transportation infrastructure.

As Amtrak continues to innovate and adapt to changing travel demands, the success of the Borealis route serves as a testament to the viability of rail travel as a competitive and lucrative mode of transportation. The positive reception and financial performance of this new route signal a promising future for Amtrak and the broader landscape of rail transportation in the United States.

Find Your Perfect Match: Serve Club App Connects Tennis and Pickleball Players Nationwide

Published

on

Imagine Tinder but for finding hitting partners. Recreational tennis and pickleball players flock to apps to meet and connect with other players that otherwise find it difficult to find people at their skill level and similar availability.

NEW YORK /PRNewswire/ — Amid the latest surge in popularity for tennis and pickleball, Serve Club emerges as a revolutionary app, transforming how enthusiasts connect. Rather than a typical dating or social app, Serve Club matches players and coaches, fostering a vibrant community of sports aficionados. This innovative platform taps into a cultural renaissance for racket sports, which has been revitalized by a post-pandemic yearning for social interaction and a shift toward health-conscious, statement-making workouts. After witnessing the challenges coaches and players face in finding suitable partners, co-founders Darnell Nance and Daniel Cline were inspired to create Serve Club as a solution to bridge the gap between online connection and real-world meetups.

Fashion labels such as Skims, Kith, and Lacoste are now crafting trendsetting tennis apparel, and the entertainment industry is also riding this wave. Films like “King Richard,” “Break Point,” and Zendaya’s “Challengers” reflect the sport’s growing cultural footprint. Additionally, fashion designer and “Project Runway” alum Erin Robertson has co-founded Pickle Pop, an indoor pickleball venue in Santa Monica, further highlighting the sport’s burgeoning appeal.

Daniel Cline, CEO of Serve Club, emphasizes that the platform is designed to be at the heart of this sports revival. “Serve Club transcends typical fitness apps by linking users directly with a lively community of players,” said Cline. The app uses an algorithm to match players with opponents of similar skill levels, ensuring a compatible and challenging game. Furthermore, it accommodates players nationally and internationally, allowing them to continue playing and connecting with new friends even while traveling.

Serve Club’s offerings extend beyond just player connections. It provides access to skilled tennis and pickleball coaches for either personal or group training, helping users refine their skills and maximize their potential on the court. “The platform empowers coaches to find active players eager to elevate their game, simplifying the coaching process,” notes Lendale Johnson, a professional tennis player turned coach.

The app streamlines the logistics of scheduling, from booking individual or group sessions to processing payments, making it a win-win for both coaches and students. For more information about Serve Club, visit https://serveclub.com, or download the Serve Club app for iOS.

Serve Club is more than an app—it’s the thriving nucleus of a growing tennis and pickleball community. It not only connects like-minded sports enthusiasts but also enhances their playing experience with a beautifully designed, technologically advanced platform.

In the world of inventions and innovations, recognition often eludes unsung heroes whose contributions shape our daily lives. One such hero, Philip B. Downing, an African American inventor, made a significant impact on the postal system with his innovative version of the U.S. postal mailbox. Though often overlooked, Downing’s inventions have left a lasting legacy on the way we handle and protect our mail. Let’s take a closer look at his life and achievements, while addressing misconceptions surrounding other names in the history of the street mailbox.

The Life and Inventions of Philip B. Downing:

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1857, Philip B. Downing faced numerous challenges and societal barriers as an African American inventor in the late 19th century. However, his determination and ingenuity propelled him forward.

While Downing is best known for his contribution to the development of the street railway switch, his impact on the postal system is equally significant. In 1891, he patented his version of the U.S. postal mailbox, incorporating an anti-tampering feature. This innovative design protected mail from the elements and tampering, ensuring its safe delivery. Downing’s other patents included an envelope moistener and a user-friendly desktop notepad.

The Legacy of Philip B. Downing:

Despite his notable inventions and their impact on the postal system during his time, Philip B. Downing’s name has been overshadowed by other inventors who were involved in the development of the mailbox. However, it is essential to recognize the contributions of all parties while ensuring historical accuracy.

Addressing Misconceptions:

Some mentions have been made of individuals such as JH VanDoran, but the evidence for their involvement in the development of the mailbox is scarce or nonexistent. On the other hand, the Van Dorn Iron Works Company of Cleveland, Ohio, played a crucial role in manufacturing collection boxes for the Post Office Department. It is worth acknowledging the contributions of all involved parties while setting the record straight.

Philip B. Downing’s contributions as an inventor serve as an inspiring example of resilience and determination. His revolutionary designs in the postal system not only enhanced efficiency but also ensured the security of mail delivery. Downing’s remarkable achievements, often overshadowed by others, deserve recognition and remembrance. As we celebrate Moments in History, it is important to shine a light on the overlooked heroes like Philip B. Downing, whose work shapes our world today. Let us honor their legacies as we continue to aspire, innovate, and shape the future.
