KFC Pot Pie Combo with a Side of Drive Thru Comedy?
I didn’t realize that my visit to KFC included a drive thru lounge act from an idiot.

Our Drive Thru Adventure
Okay, here’s a rare moment for this blog—a complaint about service at a fast food restaurant. The reason that it is rare is because I have greatly curtailed my visits to a bare minimum, primarily eating home-prepared meals for the past few years, and I feel good about it. I do realize that there will be times when I have no choice but to grab a quick bite during a busy day, but usually, it’s from In-N-Out Burger because their service and quality are consistently good. Not today, though. Earlier this afternoon, I found myself short on time and opted to try a different fast food chain that I hadn’t visited in years. The experience was nothing short of disappointing. From the moment I stepped in, I was met with long lines, indifferent staff, and an inefficient ordering system. The wait was unbearably long, and when I finally got my food, it was cold and unappetizing. This unfortunate encounter reminded me why I steer clear of fast food places and reaffirmed my commitment to home-cooked meals.

My fiancée, Rebecca, was off work today and she wanted pot pies for lunch and asked if I wanted the same. Well, I had a busy morning and afternoon ahead of me and had no time to gather and prepare the ingredients for a meal, so I agreed. Today was the rare day of getting a quick lunch. We were out the door and off to the local KFC. I have had pot pies from this particular location a few times before now and was satisfied with all of them. This time would be a bit different.
We arrived at the location, noticing that there was hardly anyone in the drive-thru. We felt lucky since it was the start of the lunch rush. The male voice in the speaker box asked us for our order and “two pot pies” was my reply.
” Did you want the meal?” he asked.
“What come with it?”
“A drink…”
I looked over at Beck and she said sure. I never had the chance to reply.
He then asked me was there anything else we wanted.
“A large coleslaw,” I answered.
He told us the amount and afterwards I drove towards the window. During the drive, I mentioned to Beck that he never asked what type of drinks we wanted, if drinks came with them. I told her I would make sure either way. We arrived at the window.
“Did the order come with drinks?” I asked the gentleman in the window.
” No. You said you didn’t want the combo,” he replied.
I looked at Beck, and she was just as confused as I was.
“Nothing is for free,” then he went into an impromptu standup act that lasted from the time he returned the debit card back to me, up to the time he handed us our food. His topic, “Nothing is for free.”
As I drove away, I went from confusion straight to being annoyed.
When we sat down to eat our lunch after returning home, I noticed that my pot pie filling was soup, liquid with a few chicken chunks inside. I then went from being annoyed to be angry.
Beck’s pie was perfect, go figure.
I contacted KFC, via email, detailing the visit to this location and am waiting to see if I get a response.
I only good thing about this visit is that we didn’t have to pay for his idiotic standup routine.
