STONECREST, Ga. /PRNewswire/ — After two and a half years of providing free meals and resources to families since the start of the pandemic, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church will reach a sobering milestone of serving its millionth person on Oct. 15, at 9:30 a.m. The food distribution event, led by The King’s Table food ministry, will take place on New Birth’s campus located at 6400 Woodrow Rd., in Stonecrest.

New Birth Senior Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant loading groceries into a vehicle from the King’s Tabe food pantry. The church’s ministry provides free groceries, including fresh produce and shelf-stable items to community members in need.

“The persistent truth is that mounting food insecurity for families and seniors continue to be a solemn reality as our global markets continue to sputter, rising inflation rates challenge our checkbooks and the looming threat of a recession constricts our economic outlook,” said New Birth Senior Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant. “However, the power of people when we come together can truly move mountains. As we welcome our one millionth person to our campus on Oct. 15, we really share the joy of giving with nearly 100 local, national and global partners who have made this moment possible and have remained committed to being the best example of humanity in the time of crisis.”

In March 2020, New Birth launched The King’s Table food pantry — initially serving 300 families each month. Within a week after global health organizations declared the COVID-19 outreach a pandemic, The King’s Table hosted weekly food distributions drawing thousands of cars each Saturday.

Addressing food insecurities and the growing needs of families were more extensive than the direct reach of The King’s Table and New Birth. Dr. Bryant quickly expanded efforts by collaborating with more than 100 faith-based organizations from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“Thanks to the generosity of our partners, we were able to mobilize a network of community-based organizations to ensure the reach of The King’s Table was never limited to families in our immediate radius,” said New Birth’s Outreach Pastor Carla Stokes. “What people have witnessed of The King’s Table over these last few years really has focused on our Saturday outreach but we work throughout the week to ensure our regional partners can mirror our outreach efforts in their respective locations and have the resources to help curb hunger in their community.”

Partnership has propelled The King’s Table during the height of the pandemic with collaborations including DeKalb County Government, Stonecrest Cares, Slutty Vegan, PETA, JD’s Vegan Ice Cream, Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, Amy Witherite (1-800-TruckWreck), Publix, Sysco, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Lowe’s, Pepsico, Hormel, Tyson Foods and more.

‘Road to One Million’: Silver Lining Hits the Silver Screen

Prior to New Birth and The King’s Table officially reaching the milestone of serving one million people since the pandemic, the ministries will screen the documentary Road to One Million that chronicles the work to serve throughout the global health crisis, the people who serve year-long and the families who have benefited from the support found through this effort. The invite-only screening is scheduled on Oct. 12, begins at 7 p.m. at the Midtown Art Cinema, located at 931 Monroe Dr., NE in Atlanta.

New Birth and The King’s Table will stream the Road to One Million documentary on Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. live on the church’s YouTube and Facebook pages.

CARY, N.C. (Newswire.com) – According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the buying and selling of people is the fastest-growing industry in the world. As the prevalence of human trafficking continues to be on the rise domestically, with cases being reported in all 50 states, Stirling Professional CBD is partnering with Chiro Heroes, a group of doctors and concerned members of the public who volunteer their time and efforts to serve those who have been freed from human trafficking or enslavement.

In August 2000, Dr. Eric Harrison, Co-Founder and President of Chiro Heroes, was inspired to create an organization with the goal of offering healing and support to survivors of human trafficking so they can thrive physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. He took the idea to his colleagues and fellow chiropractors in Utah, where he practices, and then to the Utah Chiropractic Physicians Association. The support was overwhelming, and within two months, Chiro Heroes was founded.

“I was inspired to ensure more chiropractors across the country were aware of the evils of human trafficking and to raise money to help in the fight against human trafficking and in the recovery efforts of those who have been freed,” said Harrison.

To date, Chiro Heroes has donated more than $70,000 to the fight against human trafficking. he program will support Black business owners in the creation of critical business and financial documents to help improve access to financing

MONTREAL /CNW Telbec/ – The Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE), a nonprofit organization offering the first-of-its-kind Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund has collaborated with TD Bank Group (TD) to deliver its new “Propelling Black Entrepreneurship Program” and offer 50 grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to Black entrepreneurs across Canada. This program has been developed to support Black entrepreneurs in the creation of their business and financial documents, including business plans, financial statements, and tax filings to help improve access to financing

Participants in the program will receive training, tools, best practices, and mentorship opportunities related to managing and presenting financial documents and have access to FACE’s regional partners and corporate service providers, spanning leading financial and consulting firms. Business owners will also have the opportunity to partake in quarterly virtual and/or in-person sessions focused on preparing a strong business case for financing from lenders. The program has been designed to help Black business owners through the different stages of their entrepreneurial journey, so they can successfully access capital and scale their businesses.

FACE teams up with TD to provide 50 grants to support Black entrepreneurs

“There are many challenges for entrepreneurs as they pursue their business ventures, including navigating financial processes and paperwork. These challenges are accentuated for Black entrepreneurs who often also face bias in the financial system,” says Tiffany Callender, Chief Executive Officer of FACE. This program addresses some of these barriers by providing them with tools and advice so they can best manage and present their documents. Our sponsorship by TD helps support these applicants to be able to submit financially strong applications, thereby significantly increasing their chances of securing funding. Moreover, this program is open to all Black business owners interested in applying for loans, even if they have not worked with FACE before.”

“We are extremely proud to support “Propelling Black Entrepreneurship” through the TD Ready Commitment, the Bank’s corporate citizenship platform,” said Alicia Rose, Associate Vice President, Social Impact – Canada, TD Bank Group. “We know the value that entrepreneurs bring to our communities and to our local economies. Through these 50 grants, our aim is to help remove the barriers and potential bias that limit Black entrepreneurs from accessing financing to help fund their ambitions.”

Since its inauguration in 2021, FACE has raised $160 million in capital, including $130 million from Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), and disbursed $21.7 million, cementing itself as a catalyst for Black generational wealth creation and empowering Black Canadian entrepreneurs.
