There’s something irresistibly comforting about a honey baked ham. The combination of succulent ham, glazed with a sweet and sticky honey coating, creates a culinary masterpiece that is perfect for any occasion. In this recipe blog post, we’ll guide you through the steps to create the best honey baked ham, ensuring a tender, flavorful centerpiece for your table.

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 pounds of fully cooked bone-in ham
  • 1 cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove any packaging from the ham and place it on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
  3. Score the ham by making diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart across the surface.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the glaze is smooth.
  5. Brush a generous amount of the honey glaze over the scored ham, ensuring it gets into the cuts.
  6. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil, and place it in the preheated oven.
  7. Bake the ham for about 15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.
  8. Every 30 minutes, remove the ham from the oven and brush it with more of the honey glaze.
  9. During the last 15 minutes of cooking, remove the foil to allow the ham to develop a beautiful caramelized crust.
  10. Once the ham reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
  11. Serve the honey baked ham as the star of your meal, and drizzle any remaining glaze over the slices for an extra burst of flavor.
