The mojito, a classic Cuban concoction, has won hearts worldwide with its simple yet invigorating blend of white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water, and fresh mint. Its origin stretches back to the days of pirates and the age-old quest for remedies to tropical diseases, with the mojito’s predecessor used for medicinal purposes. Today, it stands as a symbol of leisure and celebration.

How to Make the Perfect Mojito:

Ingredients:

  • 10 fresh mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
  • 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 cup sparkling water

Instructions:

  1. Muddle the Mint and Lime: In a sturdy glass, add mint leaves and 1 lime wedge. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush them together, releasing the mint oils and lime juice. Repeat this process for the remaining lime wedges along with the sugar. Muddling releases the flavors which are the base of this cocktail.
  2. Assemble the Drink: Fill the glass almost to the top with ice cubes. Pour the white rum over the ice, and fill the glass with sparkling water. Stir well.
  3. Garnish and Serve: Stir the mix gently. Garnish with the sprig of mint.

The beer is currently sold in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, West Virginia, Idaho, Montana, and New Jersey… with planned expansion into dozens of new states this year.
