Krystal Menu Gets Sweet and Spicy with New Donut-Glazed Items

ATLANTA, GA /24-7PressRelease/ — Krystal is buttering its biscuits with a new donut-glaze and guests won’t be leaving any crumbs with these new items. Whether you like it a little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, or both, Krystal, the home of the original slider, announced its new Donut-Glazed Chik Biscuit, Donut-Glazed Spicy Chik Biscuit and a Spicy Side Chik to satisfy guests’ sweet or spicy tooth. The new menu items are available on March 6.

For fans who want a little preview, Krystal is now serving Donut-Glazed Biscuits at participating locations.

For breakfast lovers who like a sweet and spicy combo, the new Donut-Glazed Spicy Chik Biscuit features the spicy fried chicken breast on a sweet glazed biscuit. Or, if spicy isn’t your thing, the new Donut-Glazed Chik Biscuit is a standard breakfast biscuit with golden, crispy chicken breast topped with a sweet, donut glaze. Both items are available for breakfast only.

For lunch, dinner and late-night, the Spicy Side Chik is better than ever and features spicy breaded chicken breast topped with Duke’s mayo, dill pickles, and served on Krystal’s signature steamy bun. It is available for order all day.

“After extensive testing, we perfected our Spicy Side Chik so it has just the right amount of heat for guests who like an extra kick,” said Krystal’s Chef Ray Kees. “We wanted to offer the Spicy Chik for breakfast, so pairing it with a donut glazed biscuit, is a match made in breakfast heaven.”

Easy Enchilada Casserole

Servings: 6 (12 as appetizer)

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (10.7 ounces) enchilada sauce
  • 1 can (15 ounces) rinsed black beans
  • 1 can (15 ounces) whole corn
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 tablespoons mesquite seasoning
  • cilantro, for topping (optional)
  • green onions, for topping (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. In skillet, brown ground beef with minced onion and garlic powder. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook rice according to package instructions.
  4. In casserole dish, mix meat, tomatoes, enchilada sauce, black beans, corn, rice, 1 cup cheddar cheese and mesquite seasoning. Bake, covered, 20 minutes.
  5. Top with remaining cheese, cilantro and green onions.

Cheesecake Cookie Cups

Yield: 12 cups

  • 2          packages (16 ounces each) chocolate chip cookie dough

Whipping Cream:

  • 1          cup heavy cream
  • 2          tablespoons sugar

Filling:

  • 8          ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2       cup powdered sugar
  • 1          cup whipping cream
  • crumbled cookies, for topping (optional)
  • sprinkles, for topping (optional)
  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. In muffin tin, press three pieces of cookie dough into each muffin hole. Bake 15 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes then use shot glass and press into each hole. Let cool another 5 minutes and place on rack to cool completely.
  3. With hand mixer, mix heavy cream and sugar until it thickens then add cream cheese and powdered sugar; cream together. Spoon into cool cookie cups.
  4. If desired, use piping bag and pipe pretty edge around cup. Top with crumbled cookies or sprinkles, if desired.
